Hey, guys! ^^ Bri here. Today, I'll be giving you directions on how to make your own 'Kilala Princess' uniform. What's this 'Kilala Princess,' you may ask? I'll tell you!
Here's an original Japanese cover of the manga. Cute, ain't it? ^w^
Here's an English cover for the manga. Sadly, this version is out of print in the US, so it's extremely rare!
'Kilala Princess' is a manga series about a girl, who, with the help of a
prince boy and the Disney Princesses, finds her best friend and becomes a princess herself. Now, lessee here... A kid with Disney characters looking for a lost friend? Does that sound familiar? Yes, it's like a girly version of 'Kingdom Hearts,' but with a few differences.
Instead of a random kid like Sora, the main star of this is a Disney fan named Kilala Reno. For our love interest, the boy named Rei is used like Kairi. And finally, the series just uses the Princesses rather than a wide range of movies, like Lion King, Nightmare Before Christmas, Tron and so forth.
Although, Tinkerbell has an appearance in the middle. It's a definite read for anybody who loves the Princesses, Disney and the 'Kingdom Hearts' series. ^^
I'm in absolute LOVE with this series. ^^ So much so that I decided to do the uniform from this for a convention. It also works at a Disney-themed party and if anybody's going to Disneyland for the 'Not-So-Scary' Halloween event.
Here's the guide for the uniform. She's the only one with a patch.
Anyway, here's what you're gonna need (sorry for the lack of pictures... ^^;) :
- A dark blue dress/skirt (This is the only part of the uniform that has a design on it: a single white stripe, as seen above.)
- A dark blue/light blue tank top (I recommend Danskin, but layering is also acceptable. Make sure that the dark blue on the tank matches or is closest to the shade of the skirt.)
- Magenta ribbon for the tie
- White ribbon for the stripe (Optional if the skirt already has a stripe. See first picture for item and position.)
- Stitch Witchery or any iron-on tape (Optional)
- Plain white socks
- Black chunky-heel shoes (just put some Dr. Scholl's or something comfy in them if you're gonna be walking. ^^;)
- A patch of anything you like (Optional if you don't wanna do the Kilala uniform.)
- A parent or guardian to do the cutting, the ironing and the pinning (If you're younger. ^^;)
Now, here's how to make it:
- Iron on the white ribbon, shiny side up, onto the dress/skirt. Careful not to burn the dress if it's stretchy and make sure the ribbon flows with it when you walk. If you're younger, have Mom or Dad do this bit for you. Afterwards, hang the dress up so it can cool.
- Once the dress is cooled, put it on.
- Put on the Polo shirt. Add some dark blue buttons on the cuffs if you want.
- Put on the tank top. Tuck in the Polo shirt into it and turn the collar up. This will give you easy access when you make the bow.
- Wrap the magenta ribbon around your neck, not too tightly. Then put the collar back down and make the bow. Much like the dress, if you're younger, have Mom or Dad do this for you.
- Put on the socks and shoes. Unless you wanna do the patch, you're done!
- If you wanna do the Kilala look, add a white Mickey Head patch or whatever you like. Pin it onto the left side of the stripe, as seen in the picture. Once again, if you're younger, have Mom or Dad do this for you. (Optional)
Now you're done! ^^ Hope you enjoyed it and have fun~
